Introduction to Drawing and Painting - Syllabus

Period 1

Introduction to Drawing and Painting is a year-long course introducing students to proper techniques in various drawing and painting media. This course is a prerequisite for higher-level courses in the visual arts department.


Printmaking - Syllabus

Period 1

Printmaking introduces students to the basic techniques of printmaking, connecting them with its rich history and vast possibilities for artistic expression and experimentation.


Yearbook Production - Syllabus

Period 2

Yearbook Production is a year-long course aimed at producing the Immaculate Heart High School Yearbook. Students learn about all aspects of print design, from structure and organization to layout and typography to the physical printing process. Students document campus life, creating a book that will be a source for memories years down the line.


Art Photography I - Syllabus

Period 3

Introduction to Art Photography is a course that introduces students to digital photography as an art form. Exploring their surroundings through the camera's lens, students create visual compositions that utilize the essential elements of art and principles of design. Additionally, students learn about the history of photography, from its invention in the early 19th century until the present day.

Art Photography II Syllabus

Period 3

Art Photography II is a portfolio-based class which allows students to delve deeper into the art of photography and develop their own creative voices as photographers. A sense of inquiry and an attitude of never-ceasing curiosity are encouraged to develop alongside ever-increasing technical and artistic skills.


AP Art History - Syllabus

Period 6

AP Art History is intended not only to prepare students for the AP Art History exam in May, but also to foster an understanding and appreciation for the many forms of artistic output throughout human existence. While focusing primarily on Western art, the course will also include a survey of non-Western art from Asian, Mesoamerican, African, and Oceanic cultures. Through this course, students will learn how context mediates the creation, function, and interpretation of all works of art.


Graphic Arts - Syllabus

Period 7

Graphic Arts is an advanced course exploring the possibilities for self-expression and for creative problem solving through digital media. Students learn about the history of graphic design and its importance in a world where images are becoming an ever more important tool for communication. Prerequisite: completion of Introduction to Drawing and Painting and/or departmental approval.





Office Hours: Mondays and Thursdays, after school until 3:45 in AUD 2 (the art room)
