Library
The Library has over 50 Internet connected computers available for student use. There are 24 computers in the Library Annex, 24 more in the main library area, and additional wireless laptops for check out.

Computers are available from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Computer Labs
In addition to the library computers, there are two other computer labs on campus. One is a Macintosh lab located in the visual arts department, the other in the science building houses 28 new PC laptops.

Software:

 
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP operating systems.
  • Microsoft Office 2000
    Word, word-processing;
    Access, database;
    Excel, spreadsheets;
    PowerPoint, multimedia presentations;
    Publisher, desktop publishing; and
    FrontPage, web page creation.
  • Encarta Reference Suite (DVD-edition)
    Encarta Encyclopedia Deluxe, a multimedia encyclopedia;
    Encarta Interactive World Atlas, a detailed world atlas;
    Encarta Africana, the authoritative source of black history and culture;
    Encarta World English Dictionary, the new edition of the global English dictionary created for the Internet age.
  • Geometer Sketchpad
    A dynamic geometry construction and exploration tool. The software allows student to draw an object with Sketchpad, then experience its dynamic aspects by dragging the object with the mouse. All geometric relationships are preserved, allowing students to examine an entire set of similar cases in a matter of seconds.
 
Internet Access:
  • All 51 computers in the library have Internet access.
  • Bess N2H2 Internet filtering software is installed on every computer.
  • Every student using the Internet at Immaculate Heart must agree to abide by the rules in the Internet Student Agreement.
Online Resources:
eLibrary - General reference database with access to hundreds of full-text magazines and newspapers, along with newswires, books, transcripts and thousands of pictures and maps updated daily.

EBSCO Host - a powerful online reference system accessible via the Internet. EBSCO Host's database boasts thousands of publications with access to millions of full text and primary source documents.
