IH Alum Summits Everest! Congratulations to IH alumna Georgina Miranda, Class of
1999, who successfully summited Everest this week as part of her campaign to
raise awareness and support for women in the war-torn Democratic Republic of
Congo. For the Seven Summits Challenge, Miranda has now scaled six of the tallest
peaks among the seven continents on behalf of her foundation, Climb Take
Action.

May Opens with Mary’s Day! Immaculate Heart recently celebrated one of its most
cherished traditions, Mary's Day, with the theme "Mary, Our Sister" in honor of
the school's patroness and mother of Jesus. Among the day's highlights, student
body president Sami Cavestani crowned the statue of Mary before an exuberant student
body.

Homeboy Founder Welcomes IH Alums Several hundred Immaculate Heart alumnae gathered last
weekend for the school's annual reunion, which featured a Thanksgiving Mass
offered by Father Greg Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries. Among the alums
honored was Father Boyle's mother, Kathleen Conway Boyle (Class of 1943), who
celebrated her 70th reunion and was joined by four of her five daughters, all
IH graduates: Eileen Boyle Phillips '66, Ann Boyle Van Camp '73, Margaret
Boyle-Cain '75 and Kelly Boyle Rassmusen '77.

College-Bound! Immaculate Heart seniors wore their college sweatshirts to school Wednesday in recognition of the May 1st National Candidates Reply Date when all students must notify colleges of their enrollment decisions for next fall. Celebrating with the seniors were IH faculty and staff, who sported attire featuring the names of their alma maters. IH seniors have gained acceptances at some of the most prestigious universities and colleges in the country - and abroad. |
