What school tradition shows the spirit of the Immaculate Heart school community best?
I think that Mary's Day shows the spirit of the IH school community best because EVERY single person on campus has a role preparing for the day & making the day happen. Though some things don’t come together until the end, there is always some magic that graces that day & it turns out as perfectly as it should. I am always left thinking, “that was the best Mary’s Day ever! How are we going to top that next year?” Seems we always get the Mary’s Day that we needed at the time.

What do you love about the all-girls environment at Immaculate Heart?
I previously worked at my own alma mater as the Dean of Women at a co-ed Catholic high school in Ohio. What I immediately noticed upon starting at IHHS was that the students possessed confidence, the ability to lead & comfort in public speaking & expressing themselves. It was impressive & also inspiring!

What is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the deck of the cafeteria near sunset with the light shining on the city. Further to the west, you can even see the glimmer of gold in the spot that is the ocean!

What has been your favorite place to travel? Where would you like to travel next?
I’ve traveled to many different places all over the world, but now that I have my own daughter, my favorite place to travel is Ohio for Christmas & summer. I love that she enjoys the natural beauty & culture that California has to offer, yet I am grateful for the times spent with family for holidays, snow, starry nights, corn & tomatoes in the summer, green space & slowing down.

A Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Immaculate Heart has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. We celebrate more than a century of nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of students as they distinguish themselves as women of great heart and right conscience.
