Road to Reopening

Welcome to the page on our website where we will post information regarding our plans for a safe return to on-campus instruction. Everyone associated with Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School is committed to continuing to provide a high quality, engaging instructional program that meets the needs of each of our students. All of our decisions regarding in-person learning are being made with the health and safety of our students and employees uppermost in our minds.

As meetings are held and information is shared, we will be posting additional information and links on this page.

As you are no doubt aware, it appears very likely that LA County will move to the red tier which then makes secondary in-person instruction possible. We have created a Covid Compliance Team and we have a plan for a safe, socially distanced, and effective hybrid return to in-person instruction. As you may recall, classes were programmed last summer in such a way as to make the transition to a hybrid learning environment as seamless as possible. As was shared with our employees on March 3 and with families on March 10, the following is our anticipated calendar for implementation of in-person instruction:

March 17, 2021
Staff members return to campus.

March 22, 2021
Teachers and counselors return to campus. Teachers will be teaching all classes that week from their classrooms. Teachers will test out and become comfortable with the technology upgrades which facilitate effective teaching of students in the classroom while simultaneously teaching students who are online from home.

April 12, 2021
Students return to in-person instruction following the hybrid schedule developed last Spring.

We are grateful for the support we have received from parents and applaud you and our students for maintaining focus, resilience, and a positive outlook over this past year.

A Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Immaculate Heart has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. We celebrate more than a century of nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of students as they distinguish themselves as women of great heart and right conscience.
