Swim Team Champions

Immaculate Heart's Junior Varsity and Varsity Swim Teams have been named Sunshine League Champions and advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation's Southern Section final competition, where IH athletes performed well.
The JV team went undefeated with a 16-0 record, and the Varsity team finished 15-1.

"I could not be more proud of each swimmer for working so hard," said Maureen Rodriguez, IH Athletic Director. "They had an outstanding season!"

Representing Immaculate Heart at the CIF-SS prelims in Riverside were freshmen Meiyah Go, Sabrina Giachini, Anneken Gibson, Leslie Martinez and Kimberlin Wagner; sophomores Jordyn Bryant and Danielle Sanchez; and seniors Charlotte Barzi, Irene Gil, Jane LaBash and Avery Moore.

They competed in Riverside on Wednesday, May 1, and Immaculate Heart cheered them on!

From the prelims, Go, Bryant, Barzi and Gil advanced to CIF-SS finals as a 200-meter freestyle relay team, where they finished 8th out of 36 teams in Division 3.

Go and Bryant also qualified for individual events in the finals, where they competed in the 50-meter freestyle. Bryant finished 15th and Go finished 18th out of the 36 swimmers in the field.

Additionally, Go competed in the 100-meter backstroke, where she finished 14th out of 36 swimmers. Bryant competed in the 100-meter freestyle, finishing 12th out of 36 swimmers.
