Historic Varsity Basketball Run!

After finishing second in the Sunshine League, Immaculate Heart High School's Varsity Basketball team made it all the way to CIF-SS Division 4A quarterfinals for the first time in 32 years!
The Varsity Basketball team had an outstanding season, and all the athletes played with heart and determination. At the last Sunshine League game of the season, the team members honored graduating seniors Kamrin Escandon and Shelby Glover with flowers and hand-drawn posters.

Their strong performance during the season qualified the team for the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section's Division 4A playoffs. The team won its first game against Grand Terrace High School 54-49 in overtime, and clinched a decisive 50-32 win over Aquinas High School in the next round.

These victories propelled them into the quarterfinals, making the team one of the "elite eight" out of 72 teams in the division. Though the team ultimately lost their quarterfinals game against Paramount High School 47-49 in the last few seconds, they demonstrated incredible teamwork and passion.

The Varsity Basketball team is made up of freshman Marley Ragsdale; juniors Ashley Christiansen, Gabriela Holgado, Alexandra Lachman, Danielle Lachman and Gialana Orocio; and seniors Kamrin Escandon and Shelby Glover.

Congratulations to all the team members on their incredible accomplishments!

An independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Immaculate Heart has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. We celebrate more than a century of nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of students as they distinguish themselves as women of great heart and right conscience.
