Seniors Get a Sweet Treat

To celebrate the Class of 2020, Immaculate Heart High School faculty and staff threw them a social distancing ice cream sundae party on Friday, May 8
Seniors usually have a "senior ditch day" on the day of prom, as well as a sundae party in May to mark the end of the college decision process. The ongoing situation with COVID-19 meant that the Class of 2020 would not be able to enjoy either of those traditional senior events. So the Immaculate Heart administration came up with a solution!

First, the administration gave seniors Friday, May 8, off from their usual classes as a "ditch" day. Then, organized by the faculty and staff, IHHS hosted a social distancing sundae party on campus that seniors could participate in from their cars. Many teachers, counselors and staff members came to campus to decorate cups of ice cream, bags of sundae toppings and posters honoring the senior class.

After the students picked up their sundaes on the field, receiving words of encouragement from the assembled faculty and staff and a card to commemorate the occasion, many of them parked in the upper lot and spent much-missed time together from their cars.

Congratulations, seniors, on all you've accomplished this year! We miss seeing you on campus!
