Immaculate Heart’s Cross Country Team powered through a three-mile course to win the Senior Race and place fourth in the Junior Race at Saturday’s 29th Annual Bell Gardens Invitational at Cerritos Regional Park.
Guided by Coach Florence Edi, Immaculate Heart took first in the Senior Race ahead of 11 other teams. Among 152 runners, six Pandas also earned medals, including Amber Creasey (4th place, with a time of 18:40.45); Carolyn Najera (14th, 19:40.93); Katie Hughes (27th, 20:04.20); Catherine Gibson (29th, 20:05.48); Lily Kachikis (30th, 20:09.36); and Ashley Galvez (33rd, 20:16.08).
 
IH also garnered four medals in the Junior Race, in which 13 teams and 163 runners competed. Those medalists were Madeleine Creasey (7th place, with a time of 19:16.52); Violet Marko (23rd, 20:15.66); Emily Alonso (28th, 20:36.45); and Orla Hladky (61st, 22:26.71).
 
“All of our girls showed stamina and strength, and their efforts produced amazing results for Immaculate Heart in both races,” said IH Athletic Director Maureen Rodriguez.
