Visual Arts

The visual arts provide important balance to the curriculum and serve to develop the whole person.

At Immaculate Heart, our visual arts program nurtures creativity and confidence through a supportive environment that encourages self-expression and skill development. Students explore various media, engage with diverse influences, and gain appreciation for both their own work and that of others, while also enjoying access to the vibrant arts scene in Los Angeles.

Celebrating Our Artistic History

Immaculate Heart's Visual Arts department honors the legacy of Corita Kent, also known as Sister Mary Corita Kent, American artist, designer, educator and former religious sister who received her bachelor's degree at Immaculate Heart College and later went on to head the institution's art department, where she taught a wide variety of students and styles. Her artwork contained her spiritual expression and love for God.

A Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12, Immaculate Heart has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. We celebrate more than a century of nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, social and moral development of students as they distinguish themselves as women of great heart and right conscience.
